'Watercolour is the queen of art materials. It is deceptively simple to get started with, but takes a lifetime to really control. In this workshop we will explore watercolour characteristics, colours and properties to really understand how to choose and use this medium, whether for sketching, urban sketching, botanicals, portraits or larger finished paintings. We’ll look at suggested colours and create personalised palettes for each participant, explore colour triads and work with limited palettes, learn about watercolour strengths and how to control washes. All welcome - bring your watercolours, palettes and questions!

Jane Blundell has been working in watercolour for almost 40 years and tested just about every commercial watercolour available in the world. She works in watercolour with a range of other media to produce botanical studies, urban sketches, landscapes, portraits and abstracts. Her passion for colour is widely known and her Ultimate Mixing Set of 15 half pans was created by Daniel Smith in 2018, with Jane’s Grey added as a tube colour in 2019.
