Monday Morning - Portrait Painting Class in Oil
Portraiture is one of the most exciting subjects and, for the realist painter; there is the added challenge of getting a likeness. In this class students work from life with a variety of interesting models and are given enough time to develop each portrait. The fundamental principles of traditional painting such as materials, composition, tonal relationships etc are all covered whilst exploring this wonderful subject. All levels are welcome.
Term 2 is an 8 Week Term commencing Monday 29th April to Monday 24th June. 10am to 12.30pm. Senior Art Supplies, 1310 Malvern Road, Malvern. No Class on 10th June Public Hol. Cost $304/Term.
NEW CLASS – Still Life
Monday Afternoon – Traditional Oil Painting and Charcoal Drawing
The subject of Still Life is a fabulous way to explore both simple and complex compositions. Using subject matter such as plaster casts, drapery, ceramics, fruit etc, the student will be given enough time to develop each painting. As in Portrait Class, the fundamental principles of traditional painting will be covered.
A Still Life painting can offer a myriad of possibilities. It can be as simple as a ‘Morandi’ or alternatively, a grand baroque event. As it is ‘still’, it is a great way to hone your observational and painting skills. All levels are welcome.
Students wanting to improve their observations, understanding of tone and drawing skills will be encouraged to do so with sustained drawings in charcoal.

Lee studied classical painting and drawing at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy. She is an Alice Bale Travelling Scholarship Winner (1993), and a member of the Twenty Melbourne Painters Society. She has over twenty years teaching experience.
