Bio:

Rob Gudan completed a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in drawing (with components in sculpture, painting and printmaking,) at the former Victoria College, Prahran, before embarking on a path in the visual arts. During this time he was a member of the ROAR2 artist collective, exhibited on a regular basis and had numerous artworks acquired for private collections.

Several years later and after completing the Graduate Diploma in Film and Television (Animation) at the VCA School of Film and Television, Rob then launched into a fifteen year career as a puppet animator, story-board artist, model maker and set builder within the film and television industry.

He has won several film and television awards for his work, as well as working on many other award winning projects for directors such as Tony Lawrence, Anthony Lucas, Glen Hunwick and Adam Elliot.

Rob has since returned to his first love of drawing and sculpture.

This course is a culmination of ideas and aspects derived from his dual career paths.

Learn the fundamentals of drawing and structure; A short course for beginner to intermediate adult students, with a strong focus on understanding structure – relevant for any visual art direction.

This seven session drawing course is for early career artists who wish to improve on their understanding of structure, solidity, composition and space; elements common to all of the visual arts.

By getting back to basics through a variety of drawing-from-life exercises, the aim of the course is for participants to come away with heightened skills in observation, and the ability to translate that into their future artwork, no matter what medium, style or direction.

Students will be predominantly working with charcoal on paper, with easels.

This course would be beneficial for folio development or anyone wishing to further their artistic practice.
